TIMBER FRAMES

A well designed and crafted timber framed building brings warmth and beauty into any space. From the most modest extension to the grandest of houses, the natural beauty of timber exudes a sense of solidity and quality. Each of our carpenters have fallen for the beauty of working with timber - turning a pile of 'sticks' into a spectacular structure never gets boring.

We enjoy what we do.  We take pride in our work.  This will show in the building we produce for you.

Our primary framing material is Oak, sourced from sustainable and well-managed forests. Oak’s timeless beauty is a great choice for framing. Strong, durable, with stunning grain patterns, maybe medullary rays or cat’s paw knots that give the timbers a glorious figure. Features that will be enjoyed for generations to come.

We can finish the timbers in the workshop in various ways to suit your taste. Some like a clean, planed finished, with crisp square edges. Another option is to brush the timbers in the workshop. This gives the timber more texture than a planed finish. Leaving the bandsaw marks on timber is part its story from tree to structure.

We think both are beautiful. Pop round to the workshop and you can see some samples to help you decide.

Oak’s longevity and prestige will always be a firm favourite for clients.

We also use Douglas Fir and Larch to create exquisite buildings. With their reddish/pinky grain, these timbers, especially with a planed finish, sit wonderfully in a contemporary context. Working particularly well with stainless steel flitch plates and wires, these softwoods can be an excellent choice for your project.

No matter what material you use, the space we can help you create will be unique and sublime.

Whatever stage you are at with your project we are always happy to help.
